Oz Day

It's Oz Day. It's a contentious thing but it is the anniversary of one line of my ancestry being sent here by the British government and I don't think people realise they were effectively stranded here, a bunch of city kids, and they did okay. They farmed, they explored, they built theatres.

I used to do all the stuff with Mum, for whom it was a big deal once she learnt it was her history, too. We used to do the dawn balloons, the ferrt race, lunch in the park. Last year I did it in London, and that was cool, the pu on the corner did a BBQ.

This year, I'm at home, it's cloudy, there net is slow, the tv boring. Sigh. I think I'll go down the back garden and be the plaything of large hairy spiders again.
