Weird day. Acquired a red and green dangly thing to tie in my hair for Chinese New Year as a thankyou for stuff I did yesterday, and the next thing somebody's giving me a blast down the phone. Very yin and yang.
Then I went to yum cha with the gang from work as we all discussed the restructure du jour.
Yesterday I stayed back to finish off some fic, after everyone else had gone home, in air-conditioned comfort and completely and absolutely lost track of the time, and a neighbour cut me off some sprigs of my very favourte pink frangipani as I walked home. I'd much admired it on Saturday as, though I couldn't get to Cairns this year, it was steamy enough and all the frangipanis were out down the lane, so I thought good enough and pretended I was on holidays as I skipped down to the local shops.
Missed most of Relic Hunter and Farscape, alas, though I still worry for Nigel's dark tea time of the soul and I was so inexplicably stupid yesterday and today that if scarrens tried to interrogate me for my name, rank and serial number they'd get nowt.
Dumb as a box of hammers, that's me. Too stupid to know my own name, which is perhaps why folks is being kind, I must look bewildered a lot. I think it's the latest crap I've been given to try and shift my cough - six weeks and counting.
I did, however, watch three episodes of Smallville on dvd, mainly because I'd not seen the unhacked to pieces versions and I felt I needed to study more because I was having a hard time catching the character's voices (they were going OC on me, dammit).
Unfortunately there isn't a lot of meat hanging off the characters in Smallville, not really much to get my teeth into at all. Clark and Lex never touched at all in the three episodes I watched, which is weird for supposed best pals (speaking as one who just had a group hug). There's a lot of nuance, but, golly gee, this week I'm finding it hard to get into, which is weird, because while I had my foot up (the arrival of my dvds nicely coinciding with my sprained ankle) I was writing reams. Must have been the painkillers :D.
Anyways, I stripped away the B & C plots, and the D plot was so dire I never committed it to paper anyway and I killed the faltering ending that was actually meant to be a bridge to further adventures and just wrapped it up. I mean, I've really only seen S1 (because we're only halfway through S2 and I do just a dreadful job at following it in the programme) and I figure if I ever write Smallville again, canon will have moved on so far as to make anything I've jotted down irrelevant, anyway. I figure my fic is practically an AU now but at least I finished it.
Not that it inspired any bright Billy ideas, which was the plan. Oh well. Onto polishing up Mag7 then, I guess, while Billy muse files their nails in the corner. Cannot finish this damn JP3 fic for love or money. It will not budge. It's like trying to move a cow.
Ooops, storm, big big storm swooping across the plains to slam up against my 10th floor window. Huge and rolling and #808080 grey. Yikes. I think I'll sit here and wait for the worst to pass over. Yup, sun's going out on the carpet right now. Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy ride.
